Wilson County’s hometown atmosphere combined with all the amenities of
being in close proximity to the Nashville metropolitan area offers its
residents convenient access to the attractions and cultural amenities
afforded to big cities.
The Wilson County community offers fun, family-oriented activities,
including movie theaters, bowling alleys and Watertown is home to
Stardust Drive-in Theatre.
The Encore Theatre Company, Inc. established in 2006 offers theatre performances throughout the
year. The Fine Arts Guild exhibits in different locations throughout
the community each month and hosts monthly Art Opening Receptions.
Annual Events
Wilson County Fair – Ranked as one of the Top 50 Fairs in the
United States, the Wilson County Fair had 578,131 visitors in
2019. The fair occurs in mid-August and takes place at the James E.
Ward Agricultural Center.
“A Toast to Tennessee” Wine Festival – is held the third Saturday in
May at Nashville Shores. This event features over 15 wineries from all
across the State of Tennessee, dozens of fine artisans, gourmet
specialty food vendors, live music, free wine-related seminars, and free
lake cruises.
Watertown Jazz Festival – Hosted by the Watertown Chamber of
Commerce, this event has grown from approximately 200 attendees to over
5,000 jazz fans from all over the region. The Jazz Festival team works
to promote the arts while also drawing in visitors to the quaint,
historic downtown Watertown community. Plans include multiple music
acts, food vendors, visual arts vendors and the new VIP Jazz Sky Box and
reception for sponsors and VIP ticket holders.
Native American PowWow – Each fall, Native Americans across the
country descend on Mt. Juliet to participate in the Native American
Powwow. The two-day festival includes activities such as storytelling,
ethnic foods, arts & crafts, a colorful parade, and a dance
competition.
Mile Long Yard Sale – The yard sale that
takes place once every spring and fall in this town of 1,477 people. The
Tennessee Central Railway Museum excursion train brings in people from
Nashville for this semi-annual event. Visitors will enjoy wonderful
art, eats, antiques and specialty shops.

Wilson County is located approximately 20 miles east of downtown
Nashville, Tennessee which provides an array of museums, theaters,
performance halls, historical and cultural offerings. Nashville,
Tennessee is also recognized as Music City USA which provides for many
other unique musical entertainment opportunities.
The middle Tennessee area is known for its many attractions including:
the Grand Ole Opry, Jack Daniels Distillery, State parks, lakes,
festivals, and arts & crafts. Nashville, Tennessee also offers the
Adventure Science Center, Nashville Shores, Frist Center for the Visual
Arts, Country Music Hall of Fame, General Jackson Showboat, Nashville
Zoo, “The Hermitage” – Home of President Andrew Jackson, and the
recently completed Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
Our area not only offers the local sporting events within the local
schools but professional sports as well that include The Tennessee
Titans football, Nashville Predators hockey and the Nashville Sounds
baseball. College sports are popular and include the University of
Tennessee, Middle Tennessee State University and Vanderbilt University.
Numerous concerts and performances are held throughout each year at the
Sommet Center, Tennessee Performance Arts Center (TPAC) and at Opryland
USA.
